HD Digital Video Recorder w/Good Audio

What would y'all recommend to record a video of my band. I had a couple of people interested, however, the primary videographer isn't returning phone calls or emails. My backup videographer is busy this weekend. I'm thinking of buying a hand-held camcorder (if they still refer to them as such), tripoding it and have a friend shoot the video. I'm looking for HD quality with good audio. Any recommendations or suggestions?

There are very good video camera out there with mic inputs. I wouldn't suggest the zoom or other hand helds others will recommend due to their poor video quality in indoor lighting situations.

There are also some hand held still cameras with amazing video such as the Nikon Coolpix series and the Nikon 1.

Just have to say, that it's no big deal these days to record audio with a good digital audio recorder, up at the band, and video with a good digital HD camera, and just sync the two together.

You'll get much better audio this way, and audio is the most important - right?

I am one of the others that will recommend Zoom.
We have had good results both indoors and outdoors with the Zoom Q3.
The sound quality is very good but, I do agree that the video quality isn't the best in low light.

I have just this week upgraded to the Zoom Q3HD, and it is on it's way, so haven't had a chance to try that out yet.
