Head + cab choice

I have 1200 to spend on head + cab setup as the rig I'm currently using is decent (GK Backline 600 + Hartke 2x10) but:
a) It is not mine
b) It is not mine ;)

Any brand + cab/head combo is good, but I want it to be:

a) Reliable

b) Have enough headroom on its own for small to medium venues. I don't want to have to go through the PA at a danceclub for example. The above setup, for example, is not sufficient.

c) The tone I like is a tight, punchy, trebly, agressive rock tone (I play an Ampeg Plexi reissue wich fits the bill). Pretty basic, but it has to have some clarity, some grit, cut through the mix (I do a lot of melody, counterpoint work against two guitars and keys) and a lot of bottom end. We play originals that incorporate many styles, ranging from plain old rock n' roll, hard rock, progressive, so versatility is also a must.

Thanks!
