Head recommendations please...

Hi all,

My Ashdown ABM EVO II 500 packed up at practice last night, again. As I'm sick of getting the thing fixed, it's time for a new head.

My requirements: reliabiity, so ideally solid state, as much as I'd like a tube amp I can't be doing with popped valves. Also, I gig occasionally without PA support, so as much volume as possible would be good. It's going to power a MAG410T cab, which I haven't really got the budget to change at the moment. I play punk/rock/metal so would like something that can growl a bit.

Got a budget of £500, but could stretch it if something good comes up.

Thanks in advance :)

The above are all good suggestions. I especially like the Carbine series and the LMII.

My preference is "Lead sled + pre-amp in a small rack." The great thing about going modular--besides endless clean power--is that I can get all the tube goodness I want from my pre-amp. Plus, should I tire of my pre-amp sound, it is easy to switch to another pre.
