Head to head: Maxon AF9 vs XO Qtron +

++++10000 For the Qtron. I love that sound. I used to have one of the older ones but I sold it. I had some volume spike issues but I tamed them with the gain control on it.

I sold it because I really needed the cash at the time but I will be getting another one, probably the XO Qtron+, in the near future. I'm glad they updated the casing on those things. The former models appeared to be a little flimsy in that area.

Okay I've had both pedals for awhile now and know a bit more about each.

Q Tron + cons:
The volume spike issue is only an issue to me when I slap. Fingerstyle it behaves well with no appreciable jump in volume when I kick it on. So maybe I just need to control my playing style.
I cannot get big synthy, dubby sounds out of it.

Maxon cons:
The footswitch feels mushy and cheap.
I haven't cracked it open yet to address the trimpots but it is not as funky as the Qtron+
It doesn't like being downstream from a Moogerfooger :smug:
