Headless Club???

How do you like the frog? I’m looking at ordering one.
LOVE IT! My order that’s in flight is a Paddock which is a single cut Frog.

The back of the body is nicely scalloped at the top and super comfortable to wear it’s also super well balanced. Both my Frog and my Paddock on order are headless as well.

@BlueTalon also has a really nice Frog that is not headless.

My Paddock on order is headless, fretless with piezo and will have a Richter custom pre and Piezo pre with some Nordy Zen Blades. This is the mock-up I did with the actual woods that I selected for the top and the neck. The Maruszczyk build quality is impeccable and the neck profile is amazing.

You can see how the back is scalloped in this photo from the middle to the top you can see how thin it gets. Very comfortable. It also has the Delano pickups and 4-band pre with the dual mids which offers a ton of tonal options. The upper horn is long enough that it makes it feel more like a 32” scale with a very short reach to the first fret. It’s nice for a 3hr set or long rehearsal.

BassLab shortscale in progress - now about 30 days away...
Oh wow very cool, I didn’t know Basslab was still around, so many questions :)

Did you go directly to Heiko or did you go through a dealer? Have you ever played one before this build? How long is the build time? What will the weight be?

I haven't played a BassLab before, though I have recently owned a Status Streamline and a Miller em4, and have played numerous other composite basses. I went direct through Heiko, and the build has unfortunately been stuck on hold for many many months as I spec'd a custom narrow string spacing and the German hardware maker ETS has had numerous problems supplying the parts to Heiko. I don't know what an official build time would be with a standard string spacing (for more normal off the shelf standard hardware) but between COVID hammering Germany and the ETS delays (floods, death in family, etc etc) it's been way longer than I have ever imagined it would be. But the hardware was finally delivered last week so it seems the backlog is behind us - the build has seen substantial progress in the last few days. Weight is expected to be six pounds...

I’ll be super interested to see your final results. I have a Streamline as well and the Basslabs has intrigued me for years.

I’m also concerned about ETS delivery times as my Piezo bridge with 17mm spacing is coming from them as a custom order, and was told up front this could be up to 15wks, so fingers crossed.
