The Steiny's use 1 step up better stock pups than the Hohners if I remember correctly.. that's assuming the pups are stock in both...

Here's a "earlier in this thread post" picture of mine. Only thing that has changed at this point is the knobs. Now they are the same shape but, zebra wood instead. I use GHS pressure wounds (a pain to find double ball now) and it will probably be turned fretless soon. Well balanced, compact and fast to play. Notice the access to the highest frets?

I found the real Japan listing for you, not the eBay mark-up scum bag. The real price is 54,000Yen including tax. As a foreigner, you don't have to pay the 8% tax. Pre-tax would be 49,680Yen (about $452USD), before whichever shipping fee they will apply.

Dukes are seen for $700 on reverb... this is the niche/nostalgia market.

I saw a couple of XP-2's go for around $650 on ebay recently. Crazy.

There are beat up Jacks, and even one with faulty electronics, listed for over $600. There are also listings for used Spirits that are higher than the price of a new one.

They're great basses, it just seems like the pricing is WAY out of line.

Do they mention their materials? They might be trying to trick people into buying something thinking its a carbon fiber body/neck when in fact its neither...

The XZ should be a little lighter that the Jack as well.

I hope so, because my shoulder is still pretty far from healed.

I'll definitely pick up another Jack at some point, but I figured I'd better grab this XZ while it was available. I've literally never seen a lefty one for sale.
