Yes, that is a major problem but not unfixable. Jeff Babicz at Headless USA can fix it but it would not be cheap. I believe he has to remove all of the frets, straighten the neck and then refret it.Guess I overlooked that one
Most are. However, you apparently can use an oven/heat to reset a Steinberger composite neck (Peekamoose does that), and I guess the same kind of influence might also be able to damage such a neck in the first place. However, I haven't heard of more than a handful in total so far.
Quick question, oh headless comrades: Anyone know if a Kiesel Vader with a passive (or passive/active) precision/single coil setup would be able to pull off a decent Precision sound (think Duck Dunn or Jameson)?

Dunno how they wire their pups but the rule tone snobbery (which I care very little for) is that the only way to sound like a P is to be wired like a P... meaning no J pup in the bridge position.
So it comes down to just close to that sound you want to be? If you are a little forgiving it will probably be just fine. Have you looked at any vids on youtube for this model? You might get a good cross section of opinions...
That's over 36", depending on the plane it might not fit well/get banged by other riders.
Close enough is, well...close enough. I have looked on YouTube. I've only found one guy playing a Vader w a P pickup, and he's using heavy distortion, so it's not really that helpful.
There is a decent video posted by Kiesel of a guy playing on a model w/singlecoils, and they sound pretty good, so I MIGHT go that route. (Yes, I realize that singlecoils won't get the Duck sound).
I'm going to give Kiesel a call tomorrow and see what they have to say.

Yes they are! The bridge is actually the big blademan in a EMG footprint. I am putting one of the generic pups that came with that kit in this build. Gonna keep it simple.
TBH I can't give you a fair response. The problem is, I kinda over-extended myself somewhere in that build and the wiring is a bit wonky... I'm not motivated to resolve it because there were some challenges just putting it together...
I finally set it up correctly so I'm working up to figuring it out but there is some grounding issue that is so bad that I get hum touching my amp when it's plugged in! I don't get this with any other bass I own.
I suspect its in the very difficult to solder Seymour Duncan Triple Shot circuit I hijacked for the Big BladeMan.
The grounding is just out of wack so you can't hear the tone well and its generally much quieter than my stock Squire Jag and my home made Dual ATK Pup 5 stringer... Ugh, just thinking about it frustrates me because I really wanted coil switching and don't want to have to route out even more to make it happen (that's what the Triple Shot was for).
Damn that sounds way too complex even for my small pea brain. As much as I like custom basses tailored to the players liking, I can't find myself doing all that work myself. I'm that kind of guy lmao
Yeah I bit off WAY more than I could chew at the time. I want to go back and clean it up. I now can wire an on-on-on switch to do Series/Parallel/Single so I *might* drop the Triple Shot completely... but I don't wanna! lol!
Quite recently I've been on the hunt for a Steinberger Synapse (I know I know I've heard about their notorious truss rod stories and altercations from past owners and their single ball adaptor breaking apart when you attempt to string the bass with single ball strings) but I use to own one and miss it quite dearly despite the NS WAV Radius Bass giving the Synapses a run for their money ergonomically speaking.
A couple months back I acquired a DIY kit from a TB'er for the single ball adaptor that the synapses failed to be so I'd like to at least attempt to give this kit a try finally. So I ask if it were in your best interest in my situation would it be worth the effort/time/money to reinvest on a Steinberger Synapse?
