So I'm looking for a pedal that will:
  • provide function of a headphone amp (let me plug in a bass or a guiltar instrument signal)
  • Let me connect the headphones via bluetooth (just trying to reduce cabling)
  • blend instrument signal with a recording for practice
  • have a means of importing backing track (IE drum machine) or have built in for practice.
I know I could do this with a mixing board. Trying to keep the footprint and weight to a minimum.

I have a PJB headphone amp, but honestly the bass sound is fairly sterile coming out of it and they arent supporting bluetooth.
Considered a beat buddy. Provides the drum machine but still tethered to a cord for headphones.

Trying to avoid having a bunch of cords for a basic, headphone based practice setup.
Ideally keep it to 1 cord for bass / guitar to box and a power supply to the box.

thoughts ?

1. bluetooth is latency, much worse than you'd expect, by design. you don't want it when playing an instrument, for aux in it's fine
2. beat buddy is just great. I recall, I didn't dig that much the built-in headphone amp, it was a bit noisy. don't recall, how much tho
3. it also won't color and shape your tone if that's what you're looking for
4. different pres have different flavors, it's normal. it's up to you, do you prefer an ampeg, a tone hammer, a markbass vintage or whatever else

I'm not aware of a headphone Bluetooth supported unit?

I suppose you could find a system to plug into a headphone 🎧 send...??

The Darkglass Element has Bluetooth audio in with two channels for instruments/headphones.

Cab Sims (5?) and DI XLR & 1/4" output.

With my Nux Mighty Plug Pro, Bluetooth latency is not an issue. Sure, there is latency in the music sent from the phone to the Nux, but that's ok. Simply, there will be a slight delay between pressing play on Spotify on the phone and starting to hear the song. But your playing over the audio will be at cable speed.

Bluetooth on the "in" side is fine, but on the "out" side it sucks, and he wants to use it on the "out"....

Thanks all for your suggestions... I was not aware of the latency issue on bluetooth signals. I dont use BT much other than a set of NC earbuds for airplane trips & cancelling out noisy co-workers phone calls & tying my phome to the car stereo.

this setup will primarily be used when on the road for work.

The beat buddy looks nice but at 300 clams I'll probably look to the zoom B1 Four pedal. The Waza Air Bass seems interesting - but again - more money. I did have the Vox Amplug and used it for about a year until the control dials crapped out, thats when I bought the PJB Bighead. The Bighead works OK but it creates a bunch of cables I was hoping to avoid

My amp preferences are simple. I like good natural tone with a modest mid scoop. Typically don't run allot of effects processing beyond basic EQ & mild compression.

My mainstay amps are GK MB200 and a Legacy 800. Cabs are either a Markbass 210P or one of my Epifani cabinets.
