I've been practicing with headphones for about 40 years and my experience is that all phones will break up once you push them loud enough. Compression and high pass filtering helps but the real solution is don't crank the volume, your ears will thank you.

I'd also highly recommend the Sennheiser HD650. These are my go-to open back headphones and I love the sound quality for the price. I've cut and pasted some of the important stats here for reference:

I have HD600s that I use for essentially all but tracking with a live mike. They are also excellent. The HD650 should be stronger in the low end, which is probably preferred in this application, but not for every application.
