Hey all. I’m considering getting a headrush. Is it possible to run as just a replacement for a pedalboard? So I could have a compressor, overdrive, etc. if so, how does it sound direct through a amp? In the past, I’ve felt that some multi effects units sound very thin?
I use my Gigboard and a pedalboard, but not together. My pedalboard will never sound like my HR and my HR will never sound like my pedalboard. I have a small learning curve going on where I have to much thickness. Mostly with cab sims. My next stop will be the Global EQ to see if I can keep my low mids and still use a cab sim . Ymmv
Gig #2 in the books using MX5 as my bass unit. We were the last act for the night on a decent sized stage with the biggest sound system I’ve played through to date…
there was a markbass head with a 4x10 cab - but I use the drop tune for a couple songs so couldn’t go direct into that rig. At first I thought I would run into the fx return on the amp and rely on my ir and amp sim. Then I called an audible and decided to delete my amp and IR and just run into the front the the markbass head.
this unit is a Swiss Army knife.

its still in beta testing so any testers that know what’s in it are prohibited from talking about it via the NDA they had to sign before joining the beta tester group.
There’s rumoured to be 2 game changing features - depending on how you use the mx5, it seems

usually looperboard is the only one left out of the updates. Gig and pedal boards have been included with the past ones.
I use the drop tune Live to take my bass down to c# standard from d# standard. Works great, and with proper eq, the artifacts that some seem to have trouble with, aren’t an issue.
No idea if 300€ is a good deal - I paid $499CAD new when they were released.
midi implementation isn’t super yet. You will have to Google that one, but people have had success with the Morningstar stuff, and some of the Chinese options. I used my McMillen Softstep2 with it… works fine but I don’t need more switching than mx5 already offers with the scenes.

I have used it some with my EUB 1/2 step down and it works pretty well. As mentioned above you will probably need to do a bit of EQing to get rid of some of the artifacts. I have been looking at the HOTONE MIDI Foot Controller Pedal Bluetooth Ampero Control 4 Button. Not sure if it will work and/or not sure I have found a need yet. LOL
For anyone interested - when I’m referring to EQing above, I’m talking about setting appropriate hi and low cuts to the bass signal, AFTER the pitch shifter. I personally use the IR cuts as it saves me from using a EQ block for this. I have them set at 38 or 40 hz for thé low and 5150 for the high. I only noticed artifacts when I had no high cuts - it obviously sounded a LOT different than playing into an amp before I became wise to thé ways of EQ.
Pulled the trigger yesterday on an MX-5 is on its way to my house! Sadly it's the black version, they didn't have the silver edition. Anyone wanna trade my black version for the silver one? 
I have a comp pedal in all my “live” mx5 patches… but i don’t really use it due to my own insecurities and inability to hear what it’s doing.
When I’m playing live it’s usually wireless -> empress comp-> mx5 -> PA. I use the comp to ensure I don’t get too excited a pop notes out.
I don’t feel confident enough about using the comp when I can’t ‘see’ what it’s doing via LEDs.
