I just picked up a set of these exact plugs a week ago for all the reasons he lists int he article. My biggest issue with plugs has been that I also sing quite a bit, and it's typically difficult at best to hear yourself correctly with conventional foam plugs in.
Two gigs in this past weekend with these and so far so good.
