Heavy/Death metal thread

If you haven't got yourself some Bathory, do it now. Almost all of it (don't bother with Requiem). Early stuff is very black metal, later stuff (Hammerheart on) is more epic metal.

If you're hoping to listen to a bit more extreme metal, get yourself looking through the underground. Negura Bunget, Abbadon Incarnate, Overoth, Rotting Christ and such are all really good listening

If you fancy something other than death metal, try

Dragged Into Sunlight - Black/Doom
Lazarus Blackstar - Sludge/Doom
Moloch - Sludge
Atavist - Doom
Denounce - Thrash
Goatwhore - Black
Incisor - Instrumental Thrash
Ocean - Doom
Palehorse - 2 Bass Doom/Sludge
sunnO))) - DOOOOOOM!
Warhorse - Doom
Get your ears round some post metal like Isis, Bossk and Hellas Mounds too, as well as a band I just discovered called The Freezing Fog. They've got riffs Tony Iommi would kill for! Plus, if you haven't heard Meshuggah, rectify this immediately!

I don't like much conventional death metal, though I do like some of the Swedish bands like Arch Enemy and At the Gates.

My favorite band is Emperor, a symphonic/progressive (especially in their later years) black metal band. I'm mostly into black metal and doom metal. Big fan of Primordial, Anaal Nathrakh, Mayhem, Sleep, Type O Negative.

My Dying Bride is some good doomdeath.

Primordial are crackin', had the pleasure of sharing the stage with them a few times now. Over here in Ireland, we've got some great bands!

thats brutal, i learned a long time ago to say to hell with friends, if i want to see a band, ill see em alone if i gotta, its just not worth it to not go and ESPECIALLY in the metal arena where some smaller bands are together one week and not the next... if i hadnt gone to see at the gates alone id never have gotten the opportunity to see em... that was a killer show, even though i was alone

I'm a very social person. Going to a show by myself just isn't very fun for me. It's kinda like seeing a movie in a theater by myself.
