I am picking up a really sweet 60th Anniversary MIM Fender fretless Jazz Bass. It comes with pretty heavy flats. I think they are LaBellas, and they run .110-.55. The salesman thinks that changing might be good for the neck because he thinks they are high tension. I wouldn't mind swapping them out but the bass sounds wonderful with these strings on. Is the tension a serious concern?

There is no problem since the bass holds a set up really well. I have been playing in store since last summer before I got today, and except for slight bow during the winter it has had no issues. The salesman straightened the neck out for me before I gave him the money and it was right back where I like it!

What colour is the silk at the tuners? No standard Labellas are 55-110

Rotosound 77s are 50-110 and red silk.
Labella 49-109 are blue
Labella 0760M Original 1954 "Jamersons" are 52-110 and also blue.

Your trussrod will be fine; the strings are made for electric solidbody basses! Just be sure it's properly adjusted.
