heavy rack

I have a 6u rack that if I add up the component weight, I get a total in the 50 pound neighborhood. This is mostly due to the obese 40 pound qsc rmx 1450. What are y'all doing for problems like this, rolling racks, multiple smaller racks, something else? I know the PLX series would shave about 20 pounds here. I'm leaning towards the rolling rack, but am concerned about the shocks my stuff would take, since these don't appear to be shock racks.

50lbs??? That's it? My Aguilar DB-359 weighs 50 lbs. on it's own!!! Then I have a power conditioner and the rack itself. I'm not sure what the weight is though. I thought about going to rolling rack route, but I don't really wanna drag my tube amp around like that.

I am going to pick up one of those hand truck/rolling cart things to move my rig. Back saver...

I took my 8 space rack and subdivided it into two 4's and dumped my old heavy power amp. Only requires 3 connections to be made on the gig; no heavy pieces to carry; I'm likely to last years longer this way.

My 4U rack tips the scales at about 78 lbs. Perhaps it's the Crest CA-6? :p

I also have a BMAX pre and an Art Tube channel in it. The recessed metal
hardware and ball-cornered rack itself is not so light with both covers
on. I also keep a Korg OT tuner, audio interconnects, power strip/extention,
and a foam isolation pad in the back of the rack.

It IS harder for me to carry than a 90 lbs goliath II, because the weight
is unbalanced. I generally carry it with one hand, but I use a hand truck when
the situation permits.

Ah, the joys of the Lead Sled. It does sound great, though. :bassist: :D :bassist:

Consider this: I had a Road Ready 6 space rack with a QSC RMX1450, Ashdown J. Entwistle pre, Furman and Korg tuner (all added up to more than 50# but I can't recall the total). I seriously injured my neck lugging it up and down some stairs. Had to have two discs replaced. My advice, get a cart, and get help if you've got stairs (as the doctor told me, carrying stuff up stairs is like doubling the weight your carrying). Regardless, be careful (or maybe just get the PLX).

I was concerned about those rollers too, especially with those small wheels. Some pavement can be quite rough. You also lose space due to the handle. Ultimately it was the bulkiness that convinced me to rethink what I was doing.

Started with an 8 space - tuner, conditioner, power amp, preamp and drawer. Way too bulky. Went to (3) 3 space SHALLOW racks and only need one of those at any given time.

Two of them have a power amp and preamp. I threw one of those little tuners inside of each of them along with the required cables. They are ready to go. I just grab the one I want to use that day. The last one has two preamps and the rack tuner. I use this with an IP310.

PS - with a little creativity, I even got my Stewart World 2.1 to fit into the shallow rack.
