I know, I'm stoked. Hoping to scoop up some nice Proxys from some kind souls. Unfortunately, Stadium is still so heavily weighted to guitarists.

It's so sad Line 6 decided to develop their own proprietary solution rather than embracing the Open Source NAM tech, with the ever growing tone3000 library available. This is a hard pass for me. I was waitting to see how Helix would implement a capture tech, and expected a Stadium Stomp to replace my HX Stomp, but I'll buy a NAM compatible pedal instead.

I hear ya, but it's been going on a long while and hasn't been a problem for others.

No, Kemper had the patent originally for 'profiling' amps and it expired in 2022.

If you mean, the clones of amps/effects are an infringement - no. Circuits can't be patented or copyrighted, that's why there's a bazillion different clones of a Tube Screamer (or any other common effect) on the market. I could build a clone of any amp and sell it assuming it's not infringing on trade dress (calling my amp a 'Scampeg SBT' would probably be a no-no).

The Helix (and pretty much every modeller) already digitally clone existing circuits, if you look in the manual you'll see listed what they're based on - they give credit to the original company and product.

Certainly, but they could also partner with NAM to build upon this open standard, add their own features on top of it, like Darkglass does with the Anagram or Tone3000. NAM is a platform, the core techno is free for users, but private companies can use it to sell products and services. For example, I believe "parametric Nam" (instead of screenshots, you'll get the ability to "turn the knobs" of a virtual amp or pedal) will be only available as commercial products sold by companies who partner with Nam.

I believe Line 6 has made a strategic choice to stay in the world of proprietary technologies, into their closed ecosystem and out of the world of interoperability. It's their strategic choice, I don't blame them, it's just that it kills my interest in their products, because when I download or create my own amp model, I want to be able to use it on my DAW and my pedalboard.

If Proxy would allow time based effects to be cloned that would be nice : ) .

That would sure be a great (and impressive) update, wait and see.

Just a quick update. The cloning seems pretty easy and accurate. The captain obvious workflow seems to be to setup a clean path with a looper and the send/return loop. Then to play a part you really want to shine, and then use the loop to tweak the external device you are cloning to perfection. Then switch over to proxy to create the clone.

Excuse my ignorance, but upload it to where? Since It processes the clone in the cloud so I assumed that automatically put it in some Line6 storage.

That's a good question that I don't know how to answer since I haven't made a clone myself. I just know I have seen people have files of their clones that they have that are downloadable.
