Finally joined after lurking for some time, especially in the classifieds section looking for jazz basses.
I'm in a related field (film/tv) but got back into recording music a few months ago after working on a hip hop film project. Mostly instrumental stuff inspired by 90s era electronica (Massive Attack, Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Boards of Canada) and the lofi and synthwave stuff that I've listened to over the years as background while working.
Though it's electronica-ish, I prefer tracking/playing a real bass, and will only use MIDI synth basses if I want a very specific sound. Still experimenting but I seem to like mixing real-life analog playing (guitar, bass, keys) into the genre.
I've also made some animations to pair with these tracks that I posted on youtube. It's a fun little side project!
