Hello from Ontario Canada

Just joined after lurking for a while and have appreciated the advice and the experiences shared on this forum. I have been playing bass since age 13, mostly for fun, and also with the occasional gigging band, including classic jazz, big band, jazz rock and classic rock outfits. I’m now in my 60’s and still enjoying it, thankfully. My first bass was a four string Hagstrom played through Traynor Bass Mate amp. Thinnest neck I’ve ever played. Shifted to a Heathkit Bass Amp which had much more power. The 70’s brought me to a Fender Precision with a maple neck. Great instrument and sound. Sold the Fender when I lived overseas and then in the 90’s purchased a Epiphone 5 String Thunderbird which I upgraded with Bartolini pickups. My first 5 string and got me hooked on the low B. Played through a SWR Workingman’s 15 which was a great combo amp. Worked well with the Epiphone. In the last decade I’ve played through a Roscoe Custom 5 string through an Eden rig (Metro, D210 XST, D112 XLT and D215XLT), but have more recently been playing through a Gallien-Krueger combo amp which is easier on my back. Also have a 5 string Kydd bass when I’m playing straight jazz. Influences have included Paul Chambers, James Jamerson, Paul McCartney, Jack Bruce, Chuck Rainey, Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorius among others. I am semi-retired from my work in health care. Looking forward to sharing advice and stories with all. Cheers, Dan
