Hi everyone - like many others, I've been getting tons of useful information from this site - thought I'd finally break down and formally register.
I started playing bass when my oldest brother picked up a new Fender jazz bass in 1980. He would let me play his bass whenever he wasn't playing, and I was hooked, even though my main instrument I played was trumpet. I ended up playing with school groups and such. Also tried playing along with Stanley Clarke songs (school days era, yeah right!), it was all in good fun. I continued to casually play through high school and college, but once I got married, I basically stopped playing altogether. In 2005, my wife and I were attending a new church in our area, and I noticed that the worship band was in need of a bassist. So, one thing led to another, and I picked up for myself a new Victor Bailey sig. jazz bass, and again I was glad to be playing (it had been about 14 years since I last played). I now am playing regularly for my church and I couldn't be happier. Of course, GAS has set in since, and I've added just a couple of items to the inventory (Ampeg amp and Schroeder cab, Sansamp BDDI), but the wallet is keeping the GAS in check
This is a great forum - I know I've gleaned some great information and look forward to throwing my .02 cents worth in.
