I've been peeping on the forums for a while, so to answer a number of topics and today i thought i should join you guys!
I started playing bass half a year ago on a red Mustang PJ, mainly to play funk and more specifically african funk (it's wilder).

There's a good number of great compilations on youtube, that's where you can start. Mostly it's an underground scene with quite unknown names, but there's some popular stuff like Fela Kuti (that's mostly been defined as afrobeat, i'd say it's still funk), and the Funkees (rockier i guess, still funky).
