Help A Couple TBers Make A Deal

Fender basses overall don't sell as well on the used market as a Stingray. The pickups are not original but if he includes the original pups then that's not a big deal. You're not talking about much different in price. Down where I am this is the range they both fetch on Craigslist:

Stingray: $750-900
Fender USA Pbass: $600-750

If I were you I would say the p-bass+$300

Ignoring whatever personal preferences I would have on the matter, strictly going by value - $100-150 from the PBass guy to even out the trade. More towards the $100 as you're getting the EMG pickups and the stock pickups to boot.
I agree with Slpbass81 in terms of the monetary values of each instruments, there are three Rays in my area all for under $1000 including one similar to yours for $950 I believe. Fender P basses even with the enhanced pickups go for $750-850 where I live.

Voted $100 as that seems pretty decent for the differences in prices between them where I live, with an upgraded P bass (plus original pickups) in mind.

Edit to add: it seems like the majority will be in between the $0 and $100 range... I agree that having the P Bass guy pay for shipping on both sides would be a good compromise.

Judging by this thread if I were the Precision guy I would sell the bass and offer you $900 for yours. Sunset Orange pops up very rarely on a Precision and even more rare with a maple board. The last Precision I saw sold for a little over $1000 and the last jazz I saw in this color sold for $1250. Honestly, if anything, money should probably go the other way but since the basses are of equal quality I stick by the even trade. Even if it was standard color it's worth $750 and the Stingray is worth a max of $900 which is a $150 difference. And that doesn't apply here.

Like I said if I were the Precision guy and any money was asked for I would walk away from it.

I would have voted $50, but now original pu's and pg are included, I would vote $50 the other way. I voted 0 because it seems like a pretty fair trade and it's a rather small amount to squabble over if that's what your both looking for. I SO need one of those sunset Orange P basses! Let me know if you ever want to part with it.

With all the original P-Bass parts, I agree that it is an even trade.
Both are beautiful basses BTW. I saw your Ray in the local CL here a while back and thought it looked great.

I voted even trade. The blue dawn Ray is just as desirable as the sunset orange P. It takes a specific buyer to want either and they both have the potential to sell quick or sit. I think it comes down to do you want a Ray more or less than a P? Decide that and I think you have your answer.
