Help! Can I Use Both Inputs On The Same Cab

Watts with audio is NOT like a light bulb. It take a massive amount of power from 300 watts to make a real difference with the same cab IF the cab can handle the added strain.
If you can't hear yourself with 300 watts and a 212; A) Your cab has a dead speaker. B) Everyone else is way too loud. C) All that volume is at knee to foot level (not your ears). D) Your EQ'ing is bad. ;)

The quoted wattage rating of any speaker cab is the thermal limit of the drivers before the motors melt.

In reality most drivers (particularly 10s) will reach their excursion limits well before their thermal limits, destroying them with too much excursion or in/out movement.

I actually asked him to explain what he meant.

I used a GK2001RB head with an Ampeg 410 without melting it.

Ya. OP strikes me as green and I'm reading between lines.

He's approaching the problem with a "my cab is a weiner" attitude, when it's really not a bad cab. Struggling for volume with 2x12 means his bandmates aren't really listening to the band sound. More than likely they will turn UP when he upgears. B-String gave some very good contributing factors also.

The 410hlf should be a bit louder than the 2x12 but vulnerable to being blown up in a fit of enthusiasm. Far better off with a tall stack of 2x12's.

So you mean turning it up until he blows it?....rather than sounding like if you play this cab with this head and you will have problems. If i was green thats how i would have taken your first comment. just sayin
Substituting with a 4ohm 410hlf would probably result in you toasting it at some stage.

Either way i would take 2 2x12's over a 410 anyday!
