help! coated strings... which ones?

Seems like a neverending quest. I have used only Elixirs for almost a decade now, and I like the slippery feel, but they do hide the natural sound of the bass quite a bit. I have even bought a few new basses just to learn that I only liked them because Elixirs made my own bass sound bad. I think it is the lack of (depth in the) mid frequencies, or stiffness of the string.

Cleartone has a great, woody sound, and the natural tones of the woods are a lot more alive. Seems like the bass even resonates more with them. But my finger acid kills their brightness quite fast, and they even stain my fingers black a bit.

I will try Auroras next. I tried Daddario EXP some years back, but they also died on me as fast as regular strings.

Try Ernie Ball coated slinkies. They are treated, not coated, and the coating does not come off over time.

It seems Cleartone, Warwick, Ernie Ball and Optima are more like "plated", while Elixir, DR, Daddario, etc are actually coated.

Just finished reading every thread on coated strings on this forum, and I noticed that Ernie Ball is the one I too should try next.

I have been using Ernie Ball coated strings, but to me they seem to die as fast as the non-coated kind. They don't hold their tone for as long as I think they should. Which to a lot of people on here is desirable, but I like the new string zing.

I also play pretty hard with a pick which explains my issue
