Help! Geddy Lee Fender Serial Question

I am about to purchase another Geddy Lee because I miss the one I sold. The serial starts with B01 and is CIJ. I know that these weren't made until 1998 but I can't find a listing on any of the guitar dater sites that references a "B" for Japanese Fenders during the appropriate time period. The "B" would date the neck in the 80s which doesn't make sense. Any ideas?

If it is from 1998-1999, probably the neck plate will say "limited edition" and the blocks are inlay's (not painted).
