Help!!! GK Users. Need to make emergency purchase

Hello everyone. New guy here. My alternative rock band has two shows coming up this month and I need new gear. I've decided on a 1001rb II head and a neo cab. I'm torn between the neo 212 and the neo 410. Unfortunately, none of the stores in my town have any in stock so I can't try these particular ones out. Here's the question:

We play smallish clubs, not little bars, but usually clubs with decent PA support, sometimes medium sized bars. What would suit me better for now? I'll add another cab to it later, but for now, would the 410 or the 212 work better for me? I like a strong low end if that's any help. I'm guessing the 212 would have a better low end.

My gut has me leaning towards the 212. I've read many good things about it and not so many about the 410.

Any help would be appreciated. I need to get this ordered from rcmaudio tonight or tomorrow.

Strong low end? Get the 2x12. But you won't go wrong with either choice, really.

I'd probably get the 410, but that's just my personal opinion. If you like a lot of low end, then the 212 would be the better choice. In terms of volume I don't know the exact wattage, but I'm pretty sure that both cabs are about the same loud, and that they'd easily be heard in clubs with PA support.

IMO you're going to like the smoother low end of the NEO 212 to start off.

When in doubt: go for a 4x10"... all else being equal.




Why would a 2x12 deliver more low end?
Honest question, I have no experience with it.

I always figured 4 speakers placed in a square is better than 2 speakers (in-line) for more low end.
edit: regardless of speaker size.

Instead of a 4x10", i'd rather go to one or two 1x12" cabs for modularity reasons.

Yeah, the 212 is "sounding" good to me. I'm not going to have to worry about blowing the speakers up with the 1001 am I? I know it's 480watts at 8ohms with this setup, but I don't want to tear anthing up too soon. I'm pretty new to bass stuff guys.

I like the 4x10 better out of these two. Definitely louder, a little more beef to my ears as well.

The neo410 is jam packed with low end. Too much, in fact. But it is louder, and you can dial in those lows.

However, the 212 is a much sweeter sounding cab. The lows pump, and the mids are a thing of beauty. I love the GK Neo 12 cabs. I favor P's myself, and the 12's just sound wicked with the P.

And don't rule out the 700rbII over the 1001. The 700 grunts for days. I returned a 1001 after having it for a week.... replaced it with the 700 and haven't looked back. Many think it's the best of the rb series heads.
