Help Head Choice

I play bass for my church and we are moving into a new building. Would a amp that delivers 600 - 750 watts RMS be enough power and loud enough to fill a 250 - 350 seat sanctuary without a in-house PA system. I have 2-4ohm cabs a 2x10 @ 700 watts and a 2x12 @ 1000 watts, both are Dr. Bass cabs. I am also thinking of getting the Carvin B1500
but I am afraid that will be too much. Can I get some help here, not sure which way to go. Don't want to under do it nor do I want to over do it.

i think the 600 watts would be plenty, there's not going to be a lot of noise coming from the congregation so you just have to compete with the band. I play a similar size church with my NeoPak into 4 ohm Avatar B212 w/out PA support and have no troubles. That's 350watts if i were to really push it but the master doesn't breach 12 oclock

There is no such thing as "overdo" when it comes to bass amplification, IMHO. The only reason a bass amp is too loud is because it is turned up too high. Powerful amps sound just great at lower volumes. (The exception being all-tube amps, if you want lots of tube overdrive at a relatively low volume.) Underpowered amps sound awful when pushed too hard. IME, worship bands are occasionally asked to play outdoors for special events. If you don't have PA support out on the church lawn, you will need that Carvin.

You probably have enough amp right now, but I just wanted to attempt to readjust your perception that more amp can be bad. Well, it can be bad for your wallet and bad for your back, but it is always good for your sound, with the one specific exception noted.
