Help - Heading to Europe mostly Germany soon....

Heading to Europe in a few weeks - flying in and out of Munich and hitting the Black Forest near Baden-Baden with stops near Frankfurt, Luxembourg City and eastern France (Alsace) along with all the beautiful small towns along the winestrasse.

Would appreciate the names of any "must stops" as far as bass shops go. Interested primarily in the custom and boutique shops - although bargain hunting could also rule the day.

Looking for current info and there is some flexibility to stray from the itinerary for a good reason.

Hopefully seeing Jens Ritter at his shop, but he may be in China - so it is possible I will miss him in Deidesheim.

Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions.

Frankfurt : Session Musik (they sell custom Sandberg basses, Dingwalls, Boerjes and hand made basses from De Gier. Sander de Gier is a Dutch luthier and he makes very good quality basses and guitars).

Not sure if you go near München, but if you do you MUST go to Pro Music Tools. They have a very good supply of basses. Lots of custom basses, signature models and limited editions. Check their website here (though you see barely half of what they have) http://www.promusictools.com/

THANKS so much to you Mr. Music and also to David!

Exactly the kind of info I was looking for! Yes, will be in München for sure and will check out your suggestions!

Really appreciate it.

Visit bass builders Marleaux and Le Fay

Thanks so much Dan, both look like amazing world-class luthiers. I checked out their locations and they are both WAY far out of the way. Looks like both of them have basses at the shops in Munich and Frankfurt though, so I can get a first hand look and feel there. And thanks to you Avezzano, will definitely check it out when we are wandering the Marianplatz.

Best,
