It looks like the shielding of the blue cable has come detached from somewhere down by the 'bass cut' pot on your bass, regardless of what problems OP might be facing!

Are these basses entirely passive, but with bass and treble cut controls? That is cool! The bass cut is efficiently executed as well.

I haven’t played this bass in awhile, but there were no issues last time I used it. This bass just sits my garage now. There’s been no turning back since I’ve gone Fender.

Re the blue wire, yeah, there looks like a not-connected solder spot with a broken wire on that middle pot case, mebbe for the blue wire's shield, like on the other end of it??

So, I'm thinkin' about a, Help! I'm Old! thread ...

I have a passive vvtt bass. I knew this going in, but just confirming, tone 1 doesn’t end to get into tone 2’s business. Sometimes I solo one or the other, and that works, but I had a 4 hole bass. - also in interest of full disclosure, the pickups are 4-wire and designed to operate as series, single coil, parallel independent of one another. So, sounds like you as on the right track. Good luck!

Both those statements can't be true at the same time.

Is it a passive system or does it have a battery?

If there's a battery all the vvtt advice you're getting is based on incorrect information.

Phrased differently, the bass and treble knobs are bass cut and treble cut knobs. The Toby Standard has a Passive system - probably similar (if not identical) to the PTB (Passive Treble, Bass) Leo worked on during his G&L days.

Thanks Spidey this diagram is the first I’ve seen that is spot on to what I have. The only thing is the orange wire I have coming from the bass cut it doesn’t show up on any diagram I’ve seen. But that brings me down to one wire to figure out which I should get eventually. I emailed them as well but guess I didn’t ask politely enough. Thanks again for the great info.

Actually after a closer look this still is not the same my pickups have 3 wires red/white/bare. This is frustrating to say the least but still gets me closer thanks.

Yes I bought it brand new from guitar center. I emailed them again explaining the three wire pickups so maybe they will get back to me. Thanks again

My friend picked up my bass and the volume knob somehow became loose and when he turn it up the wiring was ripped off.

I'm having a problem understanding this... I'm not seeing the wires you describe as being 'ripped off'.

The volume pot was not tightened down to the body so when he turned the volume knob it did a full rotation wrapping the wires and pulling from their solder joints. Not sure why it was loose but its something I’ll keep an eye from now on.
