Help ID this bass?

I must confess I am not really a bass player (guitar/uke) but I love instruments. Picked up this bass really cheap just cause it was intriguing. Has a Fender looking neck that looks like a new replacement-- it is very clean and has no dings, dirt, or wear. Fender looking tulip tuners but no markings. The body is quite heavy. I opened it up but the pots don't have normal codes or any codes that I can see. Just wondering if anyone might recognize anything in the pics. The stamp seems to indicate 82 but I'm not even sure about that. The body seems quite old based on the wear and the condition of the pickguard screws etc. No text anywhere on the bass.

I'll guess Japanese, early 70s, may not ever get any closer than that if there are no markings.

Don't know but it looks like one of the red wires isn't soldered to the pot lug.
