They feel like NickelIf they are nickel, they look like the La Bella Slappers or La Bella SN42CB Strings that I have been using on my 6.
Keep in mind the taper on the E from Fender 8250 is longer than most as it is intended for thru-body installation. It may not work well for top-loading.I’m Going to try the Fender 8250 set as discussed in this page:
I searched this in the forums and lots of info there, but it's all several years old. I'm guessing there have been product changes since those posts went up.

But what E string would have 42.5" winding length? I've never come across with any electric bass string that long. That’s a good thought, Definitely a possibility. I wouldn’t rule that out .
Could the E string (or the set of 4 not counting the B) come from an XL set?But what E string would have 42.5" winding length? I've never come across with any electric bass string that long.
Most manufacturers' "extra long" or "super long" would be between 38" and 40". 42.5" is "extra super long" and very uncommon.Could the E string (or the set of 4 not counting the B) come from an XL set?
