Help identifying these "P-Ricks"

I just learned from the website that both Kurt Balou (guitarist) and Nate Newton (bassist-- you should really check out some of his stuff!) both play custom First Act instruments!

Man... i LOVE the 'Mosrite' styled P that First Act made for Nate!!

Last year i caught the Russian Circles/Young Widows tour, and Brian Cook was using his First Act Delgada (RD Artist styled) and it sounded awesome!

Also, i've seen Murder By Death a few times, and their bassist uses a hollow body Delgada... also amazing!!


Hard to think that First Act can make these rad custom jobs as well as the low end stuff you find in Wal Mart. :confused:

i think its moreso that a lot of people heard of the first act discovery series FIRST, then discovered the custom shop. ive also never seen their standard models in a store like i would a fender. id sure like to. not crazy about buying anything sight unseen.

fender even dove into the extra cheap market with the starcasters. gibson did the same with baldwin.

I get the "why" people say that, I guess I'm just surprised this is still the reaction.

Being a lefty, it's pretty rare I get to really try basses out before I purchase them. It's indeed a nerve-racking experiment.

i see the "holy **** first act makes customs!?" post occasionally. people arent really talking about them. id like to know more about it. not that ive got the money, i just like knowing.

one of my friends is a lefty and he says the same thing all the time. bought a 12 string acoustic guitar and had to pay a ton of money to have a left handed nut made.

so were the sandbergs dumb luck? because the tone was pretty sick at warped. :D

we played in germany with a dude who works for sandberg. they looked rad, sounded good, and from what i could tell upside down, played well.

i don't really like the delano pickups for ETID, they sound a bit too music man-ish. i throw either dimarzio model p or split p pickups in them.

i appreciate the kind words about the tone. playing outside is kind of a bummer.

not to say anything ive done compares, but ive played a couple outside shows and i agree. it really bites. i dont like playing in sun glasses. makes me look like an ***hole.

my buddy and i spent half of the set gushing about the tone, so id say between you and FOH you were doing something right. even in an amphitheater like cincinnati. they normally sound awful.

i especially liked your FOH guy saying during soundcheck "turn down or i will come down there and TURN you down."

also found it interesting that you did the backing vocals in the marvelous slut, meanwhile greg was off doing something else.. and later played on the same stage. i take it he was too busy? how often do you get a chance to have your featured singer on the stage. it would have been perfect.

sorry for the derail and being such a fanboy.
