Help Identifying This Bass

Hi folks,
I just got this bass in a trade yesterday, but I can't tell what it is. I'm suspecting a custom build at this point, because the serial number isn't coming up on the Fender site.
It's Fender MIM roasted maple neck with Hipshot ultralight tuners and some neat binding on the top (and maybe luminlay side dots). J body with EMG pickups, a hipshot badass bridge, and apparently active electronics. The controls are just VVT though.
Thoughts? Not sure how to ID the body without taking it apart, which I don't want to do.

Thanks!

I don't see why opening it up would do any harm, but I also don't think would necessarily tell you where the body came from. Seems like you know everything you need to know...it's a parts bass and there's roughly $800-850 in parts cost there by current pricing, not including the body, which could have come from anywhere but is apparently not Fender.
