help ID'ing a mystery bass?

Hey guys! I was hoping someone here might recognize this bass and be able to help me out with a little information on it!

I got this from a family friend. She had it for years and got it from her uncle. I think she said she thinks it was handmade by him but I have my doubts. I figured I'd ask here just to be sure. At any rate, I can't find any identifying marks on it (no brand/serial # etc). However the headstock does have a strange image stuck to it. It covers the spot where you would normally see the word "Fender" on a headstock (just an example, I doubt this is a Fender!). I can peel it off but I doubt there is anything underneath anyway.

Headstock suggests Global or Tiesco 1960's Japanese production

Looks like a Tiesco to me. It's tough to ID alot of these Japanese basses. There were alot of the same design/model with different names slapped on them. Sweet bass though.

take off the control cover and look in there, may be some markings.
