My Fender Jag bass has begun creating a lot of noise when im not touching the strings, so i thought id have a nose under the input plate. While doing this, a wire has come off and i cant tell where from! Ive seen the wiring diagram posted on here but it looks different to what i have here! Urgent help required!

Help! Jaguar Bass Wiring Confusion!

its almost the same, but has a black wire running from the input, across the top of the pots, is that normal?
Black wire running from the input across the top of the pots is normal (and right). This Ground/GND ...
Is there a black wire which might come from the bridge and which isn't soldered anymore? This might explain the noise ...
Otherwise: A photo says more than 1000 words ...
Thanks, I now believe the loose wire is the one that connects to the battery,however, of the black wires that run from the input across the pots there is a short black wire going nowhere.

Once you get the wire figured out (sorry I can't be much help in that area) - look into "Jaguar Bass shielding" - that is where your original noise is coming from. It's a lack of proper shielding that almost all Jag owners have had to do.
I had one of the MIJ Fender Jags for awhile and it too was very noisy (probably why I got such a good deal). Anyway, I shielded the control cavity and the cavity in front of the neck pickup where the preamp was with copper shielding. Make sure the shielding comes up and over the sides to make contact with the metal control plate, and put a piece on the back of the guard over the preamp cavity to perform the same function. The bass was so quite afterward, that I doubled my money when I sold it!
