HELP lefty bassist

I'm italian and always played in heavy metal bands yet I don't see why I should be "left wing" to the point to bear an upside flag.

I'm a former soldier (still in the "Reserve" right now) US's the country where honored warriors come from and with 3,000,000+ severly wounded ones

I hate to sound politicized, but I don't get why headbangers (and I am) would have to mess with such subjects

You shouldn't assume that making a statement like an upside down flag is against soldiers, but i also think it wasn't said in this context as a serious political statement (we're talking about a flipped bass after all). I'd caution too about not getting into politics in this thread else it get closed and the op doesn't get the advice/help he asked for.

This can be cool indeed, I'm not questionin' it: think that I've been odd enough to briefly own a Fender Pawn Shop Reverse Jaguar (32" scale being the thing I ended up likin' less in it...)

This not. It's pure lack of taste IMHO

the only thing I can say about flipping basses is that everyone around here for 20 years remembers me for that, not my name, not my bass brand, not my car, not my playing ability....

just "hey arent you the dude who use to play hendrix style"

And not having to pull the nut and play e on top allowed any righty bass to be sold at anytime with no mods.

I play lefty, have played both left-handed and right-handed BGs probably about 50-50 over the years. To be honest I don't really think it makes much difference. As long as it balances decently upside-down it's fine. If upper fret access is a big deal for you, get one with a body shape that allows that - many Gibson-styles or ESPs do, for example.

Here's the last bass I bought - a Killer Simmony. It's a righty, though it kinda looks like a lefty Ric.

FWIW my Ric-shaped thing cost 300 British pounds used, right around the OP's budget, and there are much less obscure Ric clones out there, too. Also Explorers, T-Birds, SG-shaped basses, double-cut hollowbodies... Not that there's anything wrong with getting a lefty Squier or Schecter or whatever, either.

My next bass is probably gonna be a righty parts Precision. Could try to get a lefty body, but it was easier to find somebody to swap me a righty body for an extra neck I had laying around. Plus that helps with resale. And I'm used to playing DBs, so I'm just not used to having cutaways.
