I just had multiples with burst finish. Switch them out. They all look the same you know.
Keep your bass, fixate on playing well instead.
Talkbass is always eager to enable a musician's worst instincts.
Everyone else in the world would say you are being silly, and that you already have a bass.
Listen to those people, they are right.
We are the crazy ones that give bad life advice about too much gear all the time.
Additionally... picking up your bass from the shop??? Why?
learn to service your own bass. With YouTube + Talkbass. it's fun and more satisfying than more stuff that you don't need.
Talkbass is great for help with your instrument, but terrible at cheering for you to begin the path to becoming a hoarder.

Yeah... decided not to get the paranormal, wasn't even in the shop that day, didn't feel motivated to ask for it. Tech was nice, did the repair (broken solder) and replaced wires on the house.
Paranormal Squiers are made in China and have been pretty unanimously heralded for being solid, high quality instruments. I own a Paranormal Rascal and there's nothing to complain about QC wise. The only detriment I've heard of the 54 Jazz was that the pickups were a bit weak, but that was from a review I watched and may not be for every example.
As for your dilemma OP, here are 2 points you may want to consider:
1) You like the look of the 54 jazz but not the finish or pickguard? Buddy, that's a purchase regret waiting to happen, no matter what it sounds like (which you don't even know at this point).
2) Squiers did make the Paranormal 54 Jazz in a burst finish with tort pick guard, so maybe it would be a good idea to play the one at your local shop to see if the sound is agreeable, then seek out the finish you desire.

Something about the sound of 1 ‘51-style pickup. My 1st bass was a Telecaster Bass, took a few decades off and am back with the same style on my Bronco.

Save up and buy a Paranormal or a Jazz down the road....for fun
have the bass purchase supervisors keep in mind, these are not cash out the door, if you buy a nice used bass at market price you shd be able to sell it at market price, and if you're serious about joining band or playing in school bands, you need good tools.
