Help Me Build an (eventually ultimate) Bass DI Recording Rig!

I play metal, and if I have to record without an amp, I put a clean boost in front of a Tonehammer. I can dial in some good sounds with the TH, and having the clean boost in front of it just adds another layer to play with. sometimes if I want real dirty sound like you are dying in the sarlacc pit, I will add just a touch of slow chorus between the clean boost and TH.
maybe an EQ after the TH to add some frequencies, but this is what I do.
Again, only if I HAVE to record without the amp, which is very rare.
