Help me decide please :)

Hi, I bought a Fender Standard P-Bass recently and I installed a SPB-3 Quarterpound pickup, and I didn't like it, way too metallic, it's like "clang, clang, clang", it doesn't have any punch and midrange.

So, I put back the stock pickup and I like it over the SPB-3, more punchy, more mids, tighter notes, but I know that this pickup isn'ta good overall pickupo, so I want to buy a good pickup, with warmer tone, more punchy, and I'm stuck between the '62 reissue P-bass pickup and the SPB-1 Vintage.

I can't afford the Nordstrand or Fralins, so I have to choose between the ones I mentioned earlier.

Which one would you choose?, what are the differences?, I need your opinions guys

I play pop-rock, rock, kinda like U2, Cranberries, what do you think it's the best choice?

Is that a Mexican P? Maybe the pickups aren't boutique, but if the pickup makes a signal that is close to what you want, maybe changing strings will get you all the way home with less expense.

Yes, it's a mexican P-bass, I've always heard that these pickups aren't good.

The pickup is probably a little shoddy, but have you considered just adjusting its height or your playing style to get an acceptable sound out of it until you can save up for a higher-end pickup like a Fralin?

My Mexi P has a wonderful pickup in it, I almost wonder if it's adopted! I've found that strings will really make a difference on my P-Bass (not so much on my J, so that might need new pups). I've had good experience with DR nickel hex cores.

If you want more mid punch and clarity i go for those big fat pole piece delano p pickup.

Used them before and they are fantastic

Ok guys, thanks, I'll keep the stock pickup for now, and save money for a higher-end pickup
