So when you say "Chinese" basses depreciate in value, the good quality of the bass I buy will not be worth near as much in six years? Even if the quality is absolutely perfect from when it was first made? That's a bit discouraging to hear.
I think that you should buy the bass because it fits you well. Do not buy a bass for the investment. You should be playing the bass and purchasing it on its sound. If you find something better for a few hundred dollars more go for it. If you do plan on upgrading some time in your life, as I assume you might, you might want to look into something that appreciates in value. If you're looking for your instrument then go for it.
