I like my fuzz in the extreme side and currently have a Magic Fuzz and a Dizzy Tone on my board. Both cut like crazy and cause guitar players to cower in fear.

In my experience, that just means you need to find the right muff. I’ve had some muffs (the actual EHX ones mostly) that just disappear in the mix, but others stand out quite well. Depends what you need. I can sit under the mix with crazy lows or cut through guitars with my Pharaoh Supreme.

I’ll leave it at that. There are many people here that have much more fuzz/muff experience here than me, but I’ve never been unable to find a fuzz tone I wanted in my Pharaoh Supreme.

I've found that running an octave pedal (I'm using the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe) before my bass big muff sounds pretty rich and awesome. When I want to get real heavy, I'll run this chain: Octave Deluxe - Metal Muff (guitar pedal) - then big muff (on dry setting, so that everything else cuts through without losing the bottom end as much).

Just got this yesterday (finally!!)and my dirt quest is *over*!! I never found a fuzz that quite did it for me, but I tried a Nathan Navarro "octave fuzz" setting that is simply *beautiful* in all registers and doesn't kill my attack (just the right amount of clean maybe where you don't get the "bee's in a box" tone?!). The other 2 tones are an OCD sound and a synthy "foldover" tone, but it's so versatile and sounds *soooooo* damn good it unbelievable!!

The muff and gated presets were cool as well but the setting I burned onto the pedal covers the fuzz sound in my head !

Your question is very general, so I'm just gonna answer by telling you my two OVERALL favorite fuzzes. They are completely different and I use them for 100% different things:

1. Devi Ever Ruiner . This fuzz is super unusual. It has an extremely compressed feeling. I freaking love it. I use it BEFORE a lot of other pedals on my board and then manipulate it afterwords if I need something else out of it (like more low end).

2. Earthquaker Devices Erupter. . More traditional. It's an extremely "polished" fuzz if that makes sense. I consider it to be almost hi-fi somehow. It's hard to explain until you hear it in person. It fuzzes super hard and does exactly what you want, but it's somehow contained without feeling compressed.

So here is the deal. I have spent a lot of $ on my board in the past year since my band started writing our own tunes. I have everything perfect now with my current dirt line up as follows.

Prunes and Custard, MBD-1, MXR Bass Dist and a revolving door of fuzzes that include tech 21, green Russian reissue, grey stache, Acapulco Gold(currently on the board)

I seemed to have drifted to the clean blend circuits because we are so distorted as a band I need clarity to cut through. So I want a fuzz that has a good clean blend and a ton of bottom end (similar to the MBD-1) and I don’t want it to be gated or a muff.

Is this search even possible?

The Malekko Diabolik sounds right up your alley. It's a B:Assmaster circuit with a clean blend.

To clarify, the Diabolik is a simplified B:Assmaster circuit at a cheaper price point. It is the sound with both switches of the B:Assmaster set to the left position and it is slightly darker on both the clean and fuzz sizes of the circuit.

Gotchya. I would tell you to try the MXR Bass Fuzz, but I'm sure there's other stuff out there. It works for me, but you should really try some pedals out first if you can. I feel like fuzz is really subjective and you can't really get a feel of how it really sounds through a youtube video. All dirt sounds different based on what kind of instrument you're putting through it, play style, eq, etc..

If you're patient, one will come up for a realistic price. I've never paid over 165 for one and I've owned 5 of them. The one I currently have, I paid like 150 for.
