Hello!
I'm in the middle of the (fun) process of sourcing all the parts for a new build (more like- assembly, I'm not doing any woodworking this time) - a 5 string fretless.
The Walnut body came from Warmoth ( I almost wrote Walmart), but the pre-drilled holes is what got me. now, I'm not the first owner, but I will be the first one actually using it, so (as far as I know) these holes were drilled in the factory.
As you can see in this image, there are 5 existing string-thru holes, and 5 existing mounting-screws holes (in an awkward location, I might add). the spacing between all those holes, ctc, is 17.5 mm, even the distance between the string holes and the mounting holes is 17.5 (or something very very close to that).
I can not find a bridge that would fit those specs exactly. The good people at Warmoth were very helpful with other questions but not that one.
My preferred option - does any of you identify this pattern and can recommend the right bridge?
otherwise I'm willing to open this for discussion - which aspect should I focus on?
should i look for a string-thru bridge that covers the existing screw holes (and drill new ones)
Or perhaps a back-loading bridge is sufficient and I should try and find a matching mounting pattern and ignore the string thru holes (less modification to the body).
but like I said - a perfect match is preferred!
Thanks folks!
