Help me make my metal tone better (recordings inside periphery/karnivool)

I recorded some tones yesterday and they're my first attempt at metal bass tones. I think they;re OK at best so I'm looking for some tips on what they're missing and what could be done better.

Signal Chain is:
Dingwall NG3 - AxeFX Compressor - Darkglass Alpha Omega - AxeFX EQ - CabSim - Out

The tracks are played once with recording at -15dB, followed by the isolated bass track.

Tone is ok by itself, but may need some minor tweaks during mixing when all (drums, Guitar) track will be normalized in levels.

Not so sure about having the compressor ahead of the AO pedal. It is an overdrive that responds quite dynamically, so I have compression post AO for my setup.

EQ wise, you sound a bit flat in the highs. Stockman pushed the mids and highs and pulled the low end for Goliath. But also being a Warwick, it has a naturally growling low mid, so pulling ~80hz if anything emphasised that growl, then the boosted mids and highs gave it a filthy brightness.

How fresh are your strings? And are they stainless steel round wound (not nickel)? Fresh SS rounds will give you more bite.
