Help me out with "Seven Nation Army"

Smoke on the Water is one of those songs like Freebird that everyone thinks they can play, but nobody plays right.

Well, not similar enough to pass for a cover, but considering she wrote her own lyrics for this and is supposed to drop by to record them in three hours, it doesn't really have to pass for a cover. I'm totally gonna try to talk her into using motifs from both.

If it makes you feel any better, I can't remember the original version at all because I still haven't heard it. Only the Oak Ridge Boys' version and the dubstep remix verycoolname posted in this thread. Well, OK, that probably doesn't make you feel any better. Never mind.

Not to be a downer (I happen to love dubstep), but seriously, how many times can you just add some wobble and cut up tracks and get some tight drums arpagiation going, without sounding like every other dubstep remix out there? I can't wait until the day when someone comes up with a way to drop the bass without sounding redundant... Then again, I love a lot of music, but everything just starts to sound the same, and it gets boring sometimes. I don't listen to pop music for that reason, since it's all the same love song crap that plays 20 times a day on the fricken radio...

Dude, this is a famously simple, stupid song. You're not coming across any cooler for not knowing the original. And, if I'm to be honest, the whole 'ahhh-mah durbsterp prooodoocrrr and I don't listen to music' thing is lame.

Listen to the original and work it out yourself, if you're such a dubstep genius.

Hahaha, no. I'm pretty clueless about dubstep, too. That's what makes this fun. But in my defense, I did listen to the original version of "Sweet Dreams" today.

Got the track recorded now. She actually wanted electro house, not dubstep at all, but I put a wobble bass (made from samples of me bowing my DB) under one part anyway. And snuck the main "Sweet Dreams" synth line in the background, too.

I've heard a dub-step remix of this song just last week. It wasn't horrible. It basically kept the main riff and kick drum and just added a lot of atmospheric stuff with the vocals (I remember a lot of whooshing).

My band does 7NA for filler sometimes.
