Help me pick a 6 stringer :(

Was checking ebay for a trb1006 , noticed a new one for about 820 CND. which is double the amount i have @_@... I was thinking of getting a tune, I ask one of my relatives in Japan to look around for one and a quote. Since this relative is coming for a visit in the upcoming week or so.

If you are patient and lucky you can find a used Peavey Axcelerator 6 for that price (I just did and I love it - it doesn't exist yet because no pics). It will POSITIVELY KILL everything else in the price range. If you want to get your feet on the ground right away, the Rondo imports are good enough to play and gig with, given you know how to do a setup.

Another great bass in your price rance is a Dean Edge 6 if you can find one. Better than the Rondo imports IME.

I was originally going to chime in and mention the BTB406 from Ibanez (I picked one up a while ago), and then I went and looked, and it appears that there's one for sale in the classifieds here for 450. I HIGHLY recommend that bass, I totally dig mine, and am amazed to have fallen in love with an Ibby.

Remember that gathering other peoples opinions can be a great help but always try out the basses for yourself and see what you think of them. Some just wont fit you and some might be perfefect. Gather opinions and go and try the basses people suggest so you know for yourself.

Best budget 6-string basses:

Ibanez SR506 is easily the best 6-string bass available for under $800. The thing smokes. Great woods, decent pickups, and killer playability. But if you don't like the SR506, there's always the BTB456 (or maybe the 556 if the budget can stretch a bit.)

ESP/LTD B-206 is another solid choice. I dig ESP's stuff and even the budget stuff is quality. They tend to use nice woods too.

But if you want the most narrow string spacing (neck's 2" wide at the nut and 3.1" wide at the heel) available in a 6-string, then pick up a Samick Fairlane 6. I used to have one and it was one sweet bass.
