I have bought a lot of pedals since MY broke high school days.
I kept two.
My favorite is the Ibanez tube screamer. A minimum of low-end gets lost, noticable but negligible. In turn you get a lot of very musical midrange overdrive. Try one for yourself, they make em' in late-80's retro style for $100 or early 80's retro style for $180 more but they both have same Op-Amp as the original.
I want to try Ibanez side-by-side witha BBE Green Screamer. I want to know how they compare! BBE says they they sacrifice no bottom-end. But don't they all!
The other one I still have is the DOD Classic Fuzz in its pumpkin sparkle finish. Score one on Ebay and it's Instant Napalm Death. Hmm.. $50 Shane Embury...how more metal do you need?
