Help me pick my verse riff

I’d use both patterns. With the downbeat might be the “normal” part and switch to the no-downbeat pattern to indicate a B section or something.

Well, voting is pretty close, and the general census is use both. Thanks everyone. I'm gonna throw out the idea of the "on beat" as a lead in hook, and the "off beat" as the main verse next practice. Probably replace the first chorus with it. And back into the second verse. I can mess with the recordings in the meantime, and check it out for myself. Then present it to the guys.

yes, find a way to use them both. Maybe even closer together, like two bar on beat, two bar off, or the off beat as the fourth.

I got a concept down.

I replaced the first chorus with the on beat. Think, everyone hitting it in unison. Me, drums, and keys/horns. And, the synth part is gonna be fixed. Don't worry about it much. It's just a scratch recording anyway. I played these parts in one pass each.

But, I think this is gonna be the winner. At least, in the right direction.
