Help me pick some 2x10s!

Which Cab?

I'm in the process of downsizing my rig from a Peavey VB-2 and SWR Goliath Sr. 6x10. I'm taken care of the amp side of things and got an LMIII, which I'm totally in love with. Now I just need a pair of 2x10s to replace the 6x10.

I'm looking at 3 different cabs:

Ampeg SVT-210AV

Avatar B210

TC Electronic RS210 - Only if I can find a cheap deal on one!

Any recommendations? I know these are all pretty different cabs, so let me give some backstory:

The SWR is basically the only cab I've ever played. Scratch that, I have played a Fender 4x10, which I was pretty indiferent about. I know the logic would be to play as many different cabs as I can, but all I have available to me around here is Fender, Eden, and Behringer. Basically, when it comes to front ported, rear ported, or sealed, I'm clueless.

I play a PJ both fingerstyle and with a pick, no slapping. I don't need lows you can feel, but I do like punch, and a bit of clairity (sometimes), but not necessarily sparkle. As far as tweeters are concerned, I've tweaked the tweeter on my SWR a fair bit, and honestly couldn't hear a difference. My going deaf probably contributes to that.

Also, money is a big issue (which is why I haven't tried the Eden cabs around here), so please don't tell me to get a Berg.

Thanks for the help!

I just bought an Avatar B212 with the non neo speakers (Delta LF's). I got the Line-X coating and the metal grill and this cab really rocks!!!

I have owned or tried almost everything out there and I LOVE THIS CAB.

However, I have not heard their 10's cause I'm not a 10's kind a guy, sorry.

But I am telling you that the quality is there with Avatar!!!

avatar, these are awsome cabs at an excellent price. i use one with a gk 700rbll and have no problem keeping up with 2 guitards and a loud drummer, when i need a little more i have a 115 peavey i put with it but if you are planning on 2 of these cabs you'll never need more. one alone even handles my 5er great at loud volume.

Ok then! Lots of Avatar fans it seems. I saw a couple mentions of Mesa too... I've considered them, and even had a semi-local offer on one, but at 71 pounds each, they kinda go against my goal of a lighter rig.

Any users of the Carvins or Ampegs out there?

Also, would someone mind technically explaining the differences I'd experience with the different cabs?

I love my Avatar 210. I've got the older non-neo version and it's not that heavy. The rat fur carpet doesn't hold up if you travel much but I stripped mine and had it spray coated with Linex (truck bed liner) for $50. Now it looks brand new all the time. I had a bad experience with a Carvin replacement 15" - it sounded even cheaper than it was.
Good luck,
Kevin
