I am wanting to redo my board for a final time (Famous last words). Instead of trading a bunch of things around, I want to plan a long term build.

I'm breaking this into 2 posts, this one will be about the Preamp/D.I. section.

Let me talk about what I want out of my board 1st. My bands typically all go in-ear, P.A. support, sometimes with a small backline amp. So for the most part, I want/need my sound to come from my board.

I am usuing a Voodoo Pedal Power 2, with the external port used for my g10. Whatever wireless I own at the time will be taken up by this spot. That leaves me with 8 ports on the voodoo. I don't want to deal with daisy-chaining and splitting or anything. So that leaves my 8 spots.

My signal chain is as follows:
Line 6 G10>MXR Bass OD>Zoom Ms-60b>MilkBox>SA Orbital> (Digitech Obscura)> MXR M80

I don't use the distortion side M80, so I have that up for sale. I am leaning towards the M81 for sweepable mids, but I got to thinking...are their better options out there?

I like the transparency of the M80 and M81. Not into a colored sound of Sansamp or DarkGlass. I tried the Eden WTDI, not for me.
I also found that my in-ear and audio recordings or lacking in terms of "fullness" or "feeling." I researched other threads about this same problem and they all seemed to talk about HPF filters of various kinds.

Okay so that brings me to this... I want sweepable mids, a clean DI...and possibly HPF or Cab SIM.
I don't want spend more than 200 on one pedal unless I have to. I am open to used. If it takes multiple pedals, so be it.

Here is what I am thinking:

1) MXR M81 (If I can get what I need with just the eq)

2) M81 and DSM OmniCab Sim Deluxe

3) M81 and DSM Omnicab SIM Mini

4) Sansamp Q-Strip (I know, I know)

5) M81 and a Radial DI Box (Pro 2 or used j48)
