help me select some wood =]

before i get a bunch of people just telling me to play a fretless, hear me out.....

i want to build a fretted neck with a good combination of back, fretboard wood, nut, and frets that will give me as close to fretless tone that a fretted can achieve.

the reason i don't play a frettless is because the feel has never suited me well.

A Dingwall Prima with mando frets will get you as close as it gets. After that, sky's the limit

once you have FRETTS the idea of a FRETTLESS tone is thrown out the window.

Make a lined frettless bass.

Lacewood is my favorite for frettless.

Nothing sound like a fretless except a fretless. I doubt that wood selection would help in this case.
