Help me spend $2000 on a bass head!

You could always ship one in from the US. I got my SVT that way and I know of a couple of others doing the same. Mine was about $1500 all up about 18 months ago. Should be cheaper now with the exchange rate. The used market has some great bargains available.

The transformer is multi-tapped so you can convert it over to 240V easily enough.

Be careful buying new SVT heads in the US and having them shipped to Australia. You would not have a warranty at all unless you buy it in Australia.

Aguilar DB750.

My SVT-CL spends a lot of time collecting dust. The DB750 gets the work.

I've had owned a lot of amps in my time and have kept a V4B, SVT, LMII, and an old Acoustic 370.
Am curious about a DB750 as well as a Mesa M9.
Can't recall reading a bad review of either; might be worth a look assuming they are available at some reasonable price in Oz.

It's hard to say if that's what you want or not. The bands you listed and what I'm hearing can be done by just about any amp.

I had the Eden 800 coupled with an old Epifani 2-12 and I found it did not have enough headroom for me, and I dont play in a loud band. I sold it after having it for a year.

I got the Aguilar DB 750 about 5 years ago and it always seems to have unlimited headroom for any gig I've done since, from small bar to outdoor gigs with 5k people and everything inbetween. I still use the Epifani 2-12

I tried the TC RH450 on a gig recently. It had a lot of power and nice tone and you cant beat the size and weight. It was plenty loud for the wedding gig I did - room had about 250 people, no PA.

...if you really like the sound of YOUR bass and YOUR speakers and you have time to wait, buy a Walter Woods Ultra 1200w, 8lbs. I had one for 12 years, as well as a host of other amps, and it is totally the bomb. ......and no, it is not some high fallutin "jazz" amp....it is just lots of good clean transparent amplification. I am fairly sure Walter ships all over the world.

Hey fellow bassists.

This is my first post. I would love everyone's and anyone's thoughts on any amp heads that would suit my sound.

Just got my tax back and have $2000-$2500 AUS give or take to spend on a head! Here's a bit about my gear and sound I'm going for.

Genre: Dance infused Post Rock ie. Minus The Bear / Foals Link Removed
Guitar: Mexican 60's Reissue Jazz Bass - next is US P-bass
Head: Eden Nemesis RS-400
Cab: N-410RS4 Cab.
(I've only had it for 3 months and selling it already because there's just not enough headroom. Let me know if you're interested.)
Playing style: Fingers & Pick
Sound I am aiming for: W/Fingers - Tight Jazzy Mids, Smooth Bass. W/Pick - Deep Low, Punchy Mids, Treble to hear the gritty picking frequencies.


I am looking for an amp head to sit on a David Eden DA-410XLT8 Cab. I've played it and love the clarity.
I've looked at the Eden WT-800 and the Ampeg SVT-CL but am open minded! Any help would be much appreciated!

what are oz power requirements....american stuff is 110 vac/15 amp/60 hz if you are compatible you can pick up lots of good used gear here...
