Help me upgrade my electronics!

I have a 2005 Fender Jazz, MIM. I've been in the mood to upgrade and mod my bass a little bit, so I want to replace some of the stock stuff and make it better! The bass is mostly stock, except I pulled out the pickups a few years ago and put in a set of SD Quarter Pounders in the neck and bridge. I also changed the pickguard but that was just for aesthetics.

The knobs on my bass are shot and I can't tighten them to the shaft of the pots anymore. They are also noisy so I wanted to replace the pots with better ones. But I also wanted to throw in a series/parallel switch for fun.

I was also interested in shielding my bass, because I get a lot of cycle 60 hum even when both pickups are selected. This noise goes away when I touch the bridge so I'm not sure if it's a grounding issue.

I think I'm going to keep my pickups, they sound better than the stock MIM ones and they were expensive so they're here to stay. I may also get a new bridge, but that's a low priority as the bent one that came with it functions properly. I need some help on what to buy/where to buy it. Thanks guys!

I'd offer that you have a grounding issue. If it stops when you touch the bridge then if grounded properly it should stop when you touch the strings. Check the ground wire.
Stewart Macdonald has replacement pots etc.

Don't discount the tonal advantages of a different pickguard.

I was confused on values for the pots. I see like 250K and 500K pots, 1M, etc. I don't really know the difference. I'm looking to upgrade the sound of my bass... I like the deep, low end balls of a jazz so if I can beef up that sound, that's what I'm looking for.

I just recently upgraded my 4 string and built a custom 5 string so I have the different web sites still fresh in my mind where you can purchase the parts you need. First decide what control configuration you want. Go to SeymourDuncan.com and view their wiring diagrams under the support tab to help you determine what best fits your goals for this upgrade.
Next, visit Warmoth.com and purchase some CTS brand pots. They have a good price on pots and blend switches your describing to select from.
Lastly, do yourself a favor, the same one I did for myself! Replace the sheet metal bridge you mentioned with a Hipshot, fully adjustable. Stewart-MacDonald at Stewmac.com, has a good price on the one you will enjoy. You get much more sustain and you may be able to relocate it down further to make your bass a 35 1/4 inch scale giving you a tighter B string so it doesn't sound dull.
